Another of the things we are going to miss dearly about Kansas City is the wonderful resource we’ve found in the United Way Success by Six program!
Each location has a Toy & Resource Lending Library like the one pictured above. The ladies who maintain ours are wonderful! Cora calls them her “cousins” for whatever reason, and they are both eager to visit whenever we get a chance.

Each Resource center has games, puzzles, books, theme buckets, puppets, musical instruments, computer programs, and toys for ages birth-six. Teachers and parents can borrow items for up to two weeks at no cost!

And really, there are so many educational items that go beyond the age of six, that I’d say Any child elementary age or younger could find something to enjoy!

Right now, we’re even borrowing tricycles from our Success by Six library!

They understand that children lose & break things (as do adults for that matter!), and they just ask that if something is damaged, the parent should make a small donation or donate a gently used toy or book. We’ve definitely donated a few things! :)
You can find your nearest Success by Six location by clicking here if you are in the Kansas City area. Otherwise, google your city’s name and “Success by 6″ or “United Way resource center.” Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a national database for locations.
Help me bless them back
I have the opportunity to potentially gift a pack of games & activities worth more than $100 to our lending library!
I’ve teamed up with SimplyFun Independent Playologist Amanda Souder to host a party at my home and online to try and earn some great stuff!
SimplyFun’s mission is to help families stay connected, and help children learn new skills, through the power of play! Love it! And I would love for you to browse through my party page and consider purchasing something that will benefit your family and potentially dozens of others through this Play it Forward promo. Orders will be taken through Monday. :)

thanks for sharing this, I have to check into it!
oh it says it’s mo area counties only…I hope there’s one on the kansas side!
I know there is one in Lawrence… You should contact the UW office in Johnson County and ask! http://www.unitedwaygkc.org/about_us/joco.html
Oh what a fun program! Unfortunately I’m not finding anything in the West Michigan area. I wonder if I could start a toy sharing library with a bunch of friends… Hmm… :)
Great idea, Carrie!! :)
