I’m super excited to begin my 20 day journey through Total Home Makeover by Renee Metzler! I’ve already told you a bit about the book, and I hope you are preparing to join me this month!
Renee has pledged to support all of us and be our personal coach – she’s even created a forum for us to chat in and hold each other accountable!
I’ll be jumping right in this month as she kicks off her Total Home Makeover Club, but don’t worry if you aren’t prepared to join me just yet! I hope my posts this month inspire you and that you grab a friend to go through this with you when you’re ready!
Join Me on the Journey
Grab your copy of the Total Home Makeover book, sign up for the THM Club, and subscribe to my blog post feed as well as my facebook page so that you don’t miss a day of my journey.
I’ll start Day 1 of my journey “away from chaos” on Monday, September 3rd. Yep, Labor Day. Good day to get some work done. :)
Every weekday for 20 days, I’ll be posting what I’ve found inspiring and challenging about the day’s section in the book on the Raising the Barrs facebook page . Then on Monday of each week beginning September 10th, I’ll post a more comprehensive review of the last week here on the blog.
Where I’m Coming From
So that you know just how long my journey is sure to be, I want to prove to you my statement about being domestically challenged! Here’s a room-by-room overview of the condition of my home right at this moment. These photos have not been edited (I know, shocking!). :D
**************
THE LIVING ROOM ~ Not terrible, actually. Wetbag full of clean diapers on the recliner, bag of gifted baby clothes on the loveseat, clutter elsewhere, but I get bonus points for two cute kids, right (Alex is napping – had to put him down momentarily to take the photo and he prefers his tummy)?
THE DINING ROOM ~ I’ve wanted to get something on that wall for two years…
THE KITCHEN ~ I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to convince my husband to stop using the top of the cabinets for storage, but maybe I can think of some creative solutions.
KIDS’ ROOM ~ This is pretty clean. It’s a small room. You can see it before the bunk beds in this post.
ADULT BEDROOM ~ I can’t really call it the “master” bedroom when it’s the same size as the other two. I obviously don’t make the bed. Not much more to say about this. :(
GUEST BEDROOM ~ At least the crazy-quilt half camouflages the laundry that needs to be folded!
BATHROOM ~ It’s tiny. We have a potty-training toddler. I hate the bathroom.
What can I say? I’m “authentic” if nothing else, right? Pray for me! ;) And join me on my journey!

Hi Anjanette! I joined the THM too! I’ve been working through the book on my own for a little while and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with changes in the first few days. I look forward to seeing how your home progresses. I see great potential!
Thanks for the encouragement! I’m excited… I think! ;)
Anjanette,
I am so excited to see your pictures, because the word that kept coming to my mind was “potential, potential, potential.” Your walls are in great condition. Your rooms just need those finishing touches to make it homey and organized. You really can do this!!! Yeah! I can’t wait to read more.
Love and Prayers,
Renee

I’m excited to see your progress! I actually started a little makeover project too, but I forgot about your challenge! I just got tired of how our house looked… my husband lived in this house for 10 years before we met, so it is a little bachelor-paddy still! :) It can be overwhelming to look at the whole house and everything that needs to be done, but I’m trying just to take it one room at a time. For the record, I love the color of your bathroom!
Anjanette,
Just checking in to see how your TOTAL HOME MAKEOVER is progressing. Keep going! I’m praying for you.
Renee
Thanks, Renee! It’s going well! I’m posting daily updates here: https://www.facebook.com/RaisingBarrs
