I’m excited to tell you about a great book from my fellow blogger Renee Metzler that will rock your world. :)
As skeptical as I was to read a book like this given my ineptitude in home management, I was shocked that Renee had me at the intro! Just a few pages into the book, she addresses the question, “Who is this book for?” (answer: everyone!) with this challenge to moms,
“As parents, we need to model successful living skills. Life skills are learned in the home… Children are not an excuse to live in chaos, but rather they are the reason to model excellence.”
Yup. Convicted. Ouch.
But don’t worry – this book is not an unwieldy list of commandments for the stay at home mom! On the contrary, Total Home Makeover: Renew Your Space & Spirit is so encouraging, and accessible enough even for someone as domestically challenged as me!
Here’s a synopsis straight from the source:
“Transform your home with daily and weekly routines, family training, and room-by-room organization. Renee Metzler gave up a full-time career to become a full-time mom and home manager ten years ago. But she quickly realized she had never learned the skills necessary to do this job well.
This book is a quick-start manual that will help any home manager do their job with excellence, taking your life from chaos to order. Each day includes prayer, a ten-minute coaching session from Renee and daily to-do list to help you turn your home into a haven.”
I am so impressed with the simple layout and overall usefulness of this book that I am looking forward to sharing it with all of you in two ways:

OK, I totally need this. My biggest struggle is feeling overwhelmed by the fact that it never.ends. Just saying that makes me cringe. I can never be done!
Ah, my biggest challenge is finding the time to do it all!!! Thanks for the giveaway!
Sounds like a good book! I think one of my biggest struggles is organization – of everything. I am not really a naturally systematic person and that tends toward chaos.
I have to admit this publicly?? Really??? Sigh. I struggle with… (shhh, don’t tell anyone else ok? just between us two??)
clutter. I also think it is trying to do too much with the time I have. Wow. I could really use some help! Thanks for the giveaway.
Anjanette,
I’m looking forward to reading about your daily journey from chaos to order. You can do it. How do I know? Because, I was “domestically challenged” too. Thanks for the fresh and thorough review.

My struggle is discipline! I just can’t seem to make myself do what needs to be done. I’ve heard good things about this book, and would love a copy of my own!
My challenge is the pantry and the fridge. They both need help. 13 people live here, so it is WORK keeping things in order!
This is perfect timing for my life right now. My biggest struggle would be follow through. I have a VERY difficult time finishing what I’ve started mostly because I try to tackle too much at once, and then I become overwhelmed and quit.
Wow, I need this. Clutter is my biggest downfall, because of the clutter I can clean as well and it is all downhill from there.
Clutter! And I lack the time/motivation to take care of it through constant interruptions.
I struggle with…………… Ummmmm……… Sigh. What don’t I struggle????
I struggle with everything. I have four children that I homeschool and I work full time as a dispatcher…at night…on twelve hour rotations… *sigh* so I sleep aaalll day and have a hard time staying awake on the few days that I do have off. I can’t clean and organize at night because that will wake up the whole house. I am at a loss and desperately need something to help get everything organized in a way that can be easily emulated by my children.
the fact that it never ends is rather discouraging, and that results in clutter. our house is also really small so its a huge challenge to keep everything at bay!
As a mother of 5 I struggle in getting my home organized… It seems as soon as I finish one room and begin to move to the next one of the kids have totally turned the last room upside down (and their idea of putting things away isn’t exactly mine.. they put it away but its wrinkled or upside down, or not in the correct drawer). Its just never ending!
Clutter! But i’m working on it :) been going through room by room and redoing everything and tossing stuff!
My biggest struggles are clutter and laundry. The clutter I’m working on, the laundry… I hope to learn to like someday!
I think this might be the hardest:
Phase 3: Transform Home. Organize (clear, sort, store) room-by-room to create a functional home with activity zones that meet your family’s needs.
xoxo
I am so glad to know that I am not the only person that needs help! I just never know where to start! I am horrible at dealing w/clutter, and keeping a cleaning schedule! I need help!!!
clutter! but there’s a plus side to my clutter…..i’m getting closer every single day to a starring role in “hoarders”!
My hardest part with home management is everything the cleaning up after everyone, cooking for everyone and still trying to gave time to teach the kids stuff.
mine would have to be staying on top of my deep down cleaning
Keeping everything clean. Finding the correct website with home improvement info that’s not overwhelming.
the kitchen is always a hard spot in my house
My biggest challenge is feeling like all I do is cleaning Or all that am being asked to do is clean.

I need this. At my age, I am still unorganized.
Home organization is tough for me
all i do is clean over and over again
Keeping everyone in my home organized and on task can be really hard for me- especially when two of the kids REALLY need alot of stimulation!
I struggle with clutter. I attempt to organize only to discover I can’t find stuff. I get containers and bins, etc….which I know is a no-no…but I don’t know what to do. Do you think you can help me with this problem?
(gee….it almost sounds like an advice column…yeah, that’s what you could do!!!) ha
Thanks for the chance to win!
I could improve my handling of paper clutter!
Dealing with the toys…I can never keep them organized and looking decent. I think they have too many but it’s hard to get rid of them!
UGH! I feel like the older my kids get the worse my house gets! We just have too much stuff. They never want to get rid of their things and so we just get more stuff and we don’t get more room to put it in!
My biggest problem is taking clutter and creating organization
Mine is paper work, its all over in piles.
Home management problem…..getting my hubby to follow through on the things that need his help around here.
I really struggle with having time and energy to do everything
We just had our 4th boy so for me it’s keeping up with the constant destruction of a toddler, a preschooler, and a first-grader and trying to keep things organized…and that horrible “boy” smell in the bathroom (can I admit that??)
Mine is home organization
