Alex is Coming…

Well friends, my children are hilarious. Aidan and Cora both came the day *after* their due date, and here I am a little after 4:30am the day after Alex’s due date and I’m having contractions 5 minutes apart.

I’m waiting a bit to wake Rob up, call the midwife, etc. I’ve been having contractions since 1am, but I feel like I still have time. I’ll post more here as things happen. :)

*******************

8:00am ~ Contractions spaced out after I woke everyone up and called the midwife (of course), so I took a nap. I’m back up now drinking some tea and trying to get things started again.

*******************

9:00am ~ A few good contractions here and there, but no pattern yet.
My mom is leaving Wichita now for the three hour drive – her theory is that Alex is waiting for grandma. :)
Rob wants to go into the center soon for his own peace of mind. He’s afraid he’s going to have to catch Alex himself. haha!

*******************

10:00am ~ We’re heading out to the birth center now. :)

*******************

11:00am ~ Just 3cm dilated, but effaced. Could be a while, but we’re here and will hang out to see what these contractions want to do.

*******************

Noon ~ Mom is here! :) We were able to get Alex to turn around (he was posterior – feet in front), and his heart rate sounds great!

******************

2:30pm ~ Back at home. Just not progressing much. Even had a spicy lunch at Gates BBQ. Alex keeps switching back to posterior, which is probably what is keeping things slow. Going to take a nap now.

******************

6:00pm ~ Got some good rest and a shower. The contractions I am having are good ones, but they still aren’t reliable. I’m so thankful for my friend Cheryl who has the “older” two – I know they are having a blast! We’ll be deciding soon whether or not to call them back home for the evening so they can spend time with Grandma. Perhaps Alex really really wants to be born on a holiday like his big brother??

Thank you to all who are praying. I feel surrounded by your love and God’s comfort. I was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed about making decisions with so little information to go on (why aren’t these things more predictable??), and this hour my spirit has just been impressed upon that everything will be fine.

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3

********************

10:00pm ~ Tiring day, still having contractions but I drank a cup of chamomile tea and I’m going to try and get some sleep. He wants to be a firecracker baby, evidently. :)

********************

12:30am ~ Back at the birth center.

********************

3:56 AM – Alex was born at 3:31, all is well. :)

Good! Take a nap! Then when you wake up, if he’s still posterior, go curb walking (one foot on the curb, the other off) or climb stairs… Praying for you!
