One of my favorite parts of our new room decor is the mobile we made from tulle and ribbon. I can hardly say “we” because really, this project was all Aidan. And that’s probably why I love it so much.
It started out with us using a blunt tapestry needle and ribbon to “sew” through the big holes in the tulle just for fun one day. He couldn’t get the hang of sewing in and out in a row, but had a blast pulling the needle through the tulle any which way and watching it scrunch up as he pulled the “thread” taught.
When he was bored with sewing the first bit of tulle (a 1/2 yard rectangle) it looked like a big puff ball. He pulled it around he house by the extra ribbon and I had a vision. I could just see it – with a few more to compliment – hanging from our new colorful kids’ room!
He was totally game for making 3 more and they really do add so much fun to the room!
When I was trying to decide on fabric for our dresser drawer pulls, I had another vision, and we ended up with this:
Fun, cheap, and easy to change when we’re tired of it though I don’t think that will happen for a while! :D
Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for 2 gallons of paint from Olympic ONE! I can’t wait to see the DIY it inspires!

Excellent idea. It looks so easy while looking great. I can imagine using lots of different colors to coordinate with any color scheme too.
Aidan did a great job. Now you’ll have to start teaching him how to do other craft projects for the home. Mwahahaha.
