Make it Yourself Monday: Pumpkin Pie Spice

You wouldn’t know it is Spring here in Missouri – the ground is covered in snow. It’s the perfect weather for the Coconut Sweet Potato Pie I’m going to make this week! If you need to use up the last of your Winter squash or sweet potatoes, you may have similar plans this week.

Pumpkin Pie Spice is commonly called for in many pumpkin recipes. Do you know what is in yours? It is usually a combination of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and sometimes ginger or allspice. One of the great things about making your own is that you can leave one or more of those out or even add something crazy (chili powder anyone? Or maybe just some cocoa?). :)

4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp ginger
